A Delaware-based limited liability company, Noble Capital RSD LLC, has initiated legal action against the Russian Federation in a U.S. District Court, seeking a staggering $225.8 billion. The lawsuit is based on Imperial Russian 5½% dollar bonds issued in December 1916, which were repudiated by the Bolshevik government in 1918.
The plaintiff's claim centers on a single $1,000 bearer bond purchased recently for approximately fifty dollars. Noble Capital RSD LLC is requesting a judicial declaration that Russia owes the adjusted principal and accrued interest, totaling the substantial sum. Furthermore, the company seeks rights to offset this debt against any future unblocked Russian assets held within the United States and requests the appointment of an equitable receiver for these assets should they become accessible.
