The United States women's basketball team narrowly avoided an upset, securing a tense 55-52 victory over Italy to advance to the quarterfinals of the Women's World Cup. The close contest saw the American squad pushed to its limits by a determined Italian side.
The win extends the United States' unbeaten streak in the tournament, but the narrow margin of victory highlights potential vulnerabilities as they progress to the knockout stages. The team will need to address areas for improvement to maintain their championship aspirations.
