Teen Sues CBS News Over Reflecting Pool Vandalism Report; ICE Shooting Victim's Lawyers Dispute Agent's Account

A Maryland teenager has initiated a defamation lawsuit against CBS News, seeking at least $20 million in damages. The suit alleges that a CBS News report falsely implicated him in the vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool last summer. The teenager's legal team contends the report wrongly linked him to the arrests made in connection with the incident.

In a separate legal development, lawyers for Oscar Belgal, who was shot by an immigration officer in New York City while his young son was in the car, have presented a contrasting account of the event. Their court filing states that the Department of Homeland Security agent did not identify himself before approaching Belgal's vehicle, smashing a window, and firing multiple shots. This version sharply differs from the DHS's claim that officers only fired after Belgal allegedly rammed two government vehicles and accelerated towards other officers.
