AI-Discovered PHP Vulnerabilities Trigger Global Outages, Amazon Warns of Exploitation

A critical vulnerability in the widely-used PHP programming language, identified through AI models like those from OpenAI and Google, has led to significant global internet disruptions. These flaws, described as the most severe ever found by AI, are reportedly being "broadly exploited," according to Amazon.

The Dutch National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has confirmed it is among the entities affected by these exploitable weaknesses. The PHP Foundation is urgently working on emergency patches to mitigate the damage. The situation is further complicated by the compromise of Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates, including those from eMudhra, which could enable attackers to impersonate legitimate websites and potentially execute remote code.
