Everton Secures Opening Win; Premier League Highlights Released

Everton kicked off their Premier League season with a victory over Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's early goal and Thierno Barry's second-half header secured the win, despite Crystal Palace hitting the post twice and missing other key chances. The match was a difficult start for new Palace manager Pierre Sage, who also saw defender Chadi Riad injured.

Manager David Moyes noted that his Everton side is starting to adapt to their home ground, which had limited success in its first year. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made vital saves to help Everton through a challenging first half. Meanwhile, the anticipation for the Scottish Premiership derby between Dundee United and Dundee is building, with extensive coverage planned for fans.

Highlights from the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Premier League season are now available through BBC Sport's "Match of the Day."
