World Food Programme Slashes Gaza Aid Amid Funding Crisis

The United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP) has been forced to significantly reduce its aid to Gaza due to severe funding shortages. This decision will impact over half a million Palestinians who previously relied on the agency's monthly support, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation. The cuts mean the number of people assisted by the WFP in the Palestinian territory will drop by approximately one-third, from 1.6 million to 1.1 million.

These reductions come at a critical time, as winter is expected to intensify hunger among Gaza's population. Two-thirds of the population are already facing crisis levels of food insecurity, with 200,000 individuals at risk of famine. The ongoing lack of reconstruction and limited job opportunities mean that the vast majority of Gaza's residents depend heavily on humanitarian aid for survival.
