A proposed Washington state referendum requiring genital examinations for transgender student-athletes seeking to compete on girls' teams has ignited fierce opposition from medical professionals. Pediatric nurse Kelsey Gellner described the measure as "invasive and extreme," arguing it violates her duty to protect young patients and creates an unsafe barrier to participation. The Washington State Nurses Association has also voiced strong disapproval.
In separate disciplinary actions, FIFA has extended the ban of a coach in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jonathan Bukabakwa, by five years, until 2048, for continuing to work with young players while suspended for sexual abuse. The coach was also fined an additional $15,000. Meanwhile, the Turkish Football Federation has imposed a 45-day ban on 147 club officials for breaching betting rules, including Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan.
