Writers Guild Backs Raman for LA Mayor, Citing Labor Support

The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) has officially endorsed Nithya Raman in the upcoming Los Angeles mayoral election, choosing to support her candidacy over incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. The union's Political Action Committee (PAC) cited Raman's "consistent record supporting organized labor and increased local film and television production" as the primary reasons for their decision.

This endorsement signals a notable realignment of labor support in Los Angeles politics. WGAW board member Michele Mulroney highlighted the broader national context of labor struggles, stating that "with organized labor under attack nationally, and television and film [production] facing its own set of challenges, we need leaders like Nithya Raman who understand and champion the needs of working people."
