Cameron Green Ruled Out of First South Africa Test; Maddinson or Connolly to Replace

Australia's all-rounder Cameron Green has been officially sidelined for the first Test against South Africa in Durban due to an abdominal strain. The injury, sustained during the final ODI last week, has prevented Green from recovering in time for the opening match of the series.

This development opens up a crucial spot in the Australian batting lineup, with Nic Maddinson and Cooper Connolly now vying to fill the number five position. Coach Andrew McDonald indicated that Maddinson's call-up to the Test squad should not come as a surprise, suggesting the left-hander is a strong contender to step in for the injured Green.
